The Skills Center is creating a place where every young person has the opportunity to succeed; a place where essential skills are developed, positive relationships are grown and solutions to systemic challenges facing under-served youth are addressed.
Using a collaborative approach built on a proven model from the U.S. Department of Labor, Youth Opportunity Movement, The Skills Center plans to achieve the following:
Building strong adult-child relationships through positive motivation, encouragement, and high expectations to achieve short and long-term goals.
Improving positive values, social competencies including the understanding of self and others.

Creating a pathway to long-term employment including preparation such as job shadowing, interns, part-time jobs, college prep, apprenticeship, vocational training, and the military.
Incorporating comprehensive wraparound services.
Making healthier life choices physically, behaviorally, nutritionally and socially .
Integrating science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics
Providing basic life skills knowledge to live independently and succeed.
Offering access to sports and opportunity to learn through a sport-based youth development format.
The Skills Center Collaborative will feature 40,800 sq. ft. of warehouse and retail space, 37,000 sq. ft. of program space, and 18,000 sq. ft. of office space while generating over 180 jobs and $25 million in impact in East Tampa over the next 5 years.
The Skills Center Collaborative consists of five core partner organizations, each contributing to the overall mission.
We also partner with additional local leaders and organizations who are dedicated to empowering the families and children of Tampa Bay.
